The course is a minimum of 110 training hours and an additional 10 hours of clinical time. In New Jersey the training is in an Emergency Department setting. The course consists of seven modules. After each module there is a written test in which the student must obtain a passing grade of 70%. After certain modules there is a practical skills exam which also must be successfully passed. Completion of all classes and exams entitle the student to take the National Registry certification exam The exam consists of 150 questions with a passing score of 70%. Anyone over the age of 18 will receive a National Registry EMT- Basic certification and a New Jersey EMT-Basic certification
